This is your cloth diaper pail!

This is your cloth diaper pail!
After hours of research, I made up my mind on this cloth diaper pail and couldn't be happier with my decision. I was skeptical about the zero smell everyone as reporting and couldn't have been more wrong. There is no smell at ALL emanating from our pail. It holds about two days worth of cloth diapers. We have two planetwise liners, use bumgenius 4.0 diapers and grovia cloth wipes. Every other day we throw the diapers, cloth wipes and liner into the wash. Once a week I scrub out the pail as condensation can build up. After it's dried I put the clean liner in and hang everything else to dry. The planetwise liner will be a little oversized for the pail. Just make sure the liner is tucked into the pail before locking the lid. I do wish the handles weren't made of plastic. The grip seems to loosen over time and the handles feel a bit cheap.

Keeps all bad smells 100% contained in diaper pail! Fabulous!

So happy that I bought this diaper pail! I have a breastfed son who is cloth diapered, and before we had this diaper pail we would just put his soiled diapers in a decorative bucket without a lid. At first the decorative bucket worked well but our baby was just a month old and he wasn't putting out much. As the months went by baby started having larger bowel movements and the decorative bucket turned into a very stinky bucket. So I decided to give this diaper pail a go, I am so happy that I did! I truly wish that I would have bought it sooner. It keeps the all do the nasty smells contained! Another reviewer complained about how the diaper pail smelled when opened but that is what happens when a scent in contained. Scents just don't disappear they; spread out in the room, are contained in a container, or are over powered by heavy perfume. This diaper pail contains the scents. I am so happy that the room it's in doesn't smell any longer this diaper pail was a life saver! It fits about 2 days of diapers just as advertised. You could probably squeeze in a few more cloth diapers. The pail comes with a carbon filter to insert into the lid. I have seen replacement carbon filters on amazon for this diaper pail. I have had my pail for over 3 months now and do not need a replacement at this time. I do not notice any stinky orders coming out of the carbon filter. I use Planet Wise Reusable Diaper Pail Liners (also available on amazon). You will need to buy TWO liners for the diaper pail. I tried to do it with one liner and it just doesn't work out. Save yourself the trouble and just buy two! I am very happy with this diaper pail! I almost bought a stainless steal round trashcan to use instead of this diaper pail but I am very happy that I decided against the trashcan and bought the Odorless Cloth Diaper Pail. I highly recommend this pail to ALL cloth diapering parents.

I don't normally review items, but I had to come back a leave a comment for this one! It's so great!

We cloth diaper and I use a planet wise liner in it, it works perfectly. I can fit about 2-3 days worth of diapers in it, which is when I usually do a load anyways. I don't really use the side clamps much, but even without them latched I can sniff right next to the pail and not smell ANYTHING!

The only downside is that you need two hands to put the diapers in and it's pretty short…I ended up putting ours on top of a plastic bin to make it easier to access. We tried a tall kitchen trash can with the step open lid before this, but it always stunk up her whole room. This is well worth the money!!!

    Does the job…

Okay, let me just say that this pail does the job. I have a two month old in cloth diapers that goes through about 10 diapers a day, and this pail holds them with no leaking smells. That's why I bought the pail, and for that it is successful.

Now to the negatives. This pail is smaller than I expected, although I should have thought about that when I read 7 gallon. I'm not sure how full it will be for people with more than one child in diapers… you may want to consider a larger pail. The metal closures are great – they're strong and will last forever, however, they are a pain in the butt to open and close all the time so I generally just put the top back on the pail and call it good since I'll be opening it again in a couple hours. My husband is a little bit better about closing the metal thingies than I am, but baby poop bothers him a little more than it does me anyways. And if you want to transport this little pail from room to room (we use it downstairs during the day and upstairs at night), there's really no easy way to carry it.

Overall, I like it enough that it will get 4 stars, and we will continue to use it without looking for a replacement, at least until we decide to have baby #2.

Best container for dirty cloth diapers

Prior to purchasing this pail we had been using a large wet bag to put soiled diapers (for twins) in and washing daily. It seemed to be working until we noticed that the bag, after a few washes, wasn't containing all of the liquid from the diapers. It also did not contain the odor AT ALL. That lead me on a google search and to finding this pail. At the recommendation of other reviewers I also purchased the Citrus Circles Diaper Pail Deodorizing Disks and the Carbon Odorless Cloth Diaper Pail Filters – 4 Pack and a month later we are still going strong with all odors contained. We had initially avoided getting a diaper pail, as a lot of people use a wet method with pails that involve filling the pail with water (which presents a danger to children if they get into the pail). We don't actually fill this pail with water, we just rinse the soiled diapers and then put completely soaked diapers/wipes inside this pail, and still- no odor! This Pail holds one days worth of soiled diapers and wipes for my twins. At the end of each day we empty the bin and rinse the inside with mild soap and water.

    Never Smell Anything

Works great. I never smell anything coming out of this pail. In fact, I usually don't latch the lid onto the top, even. I just set it on top because it's easier to pick up and chuck the dirty diaper in that way. Still don't smell anything.

The only negative I can think of is that it's not hands-free opening, like pails with a foot pedal or something. But I went into knowing it wasn't, so clearly I chose that. If you're okay with– omigosh– having to take the lid off to put in your used diaper, then this is good.

It's also a good size to hold 2-3 days worth of diapers well. You don't need it any bigger because you shouldn't wait that long to launder your diapers. Smaller than the clothes hamper, just slightly bigger than the small trash can in the nursery.

This thing is totally flimsy and way overpriced. It costs $.50 per unit to manufacture tops. Very inconvenient form factor, requiring two free hands to operate. You have to set the diaper down, unclip two latches, lift the lid, set the lid aside, release plenty of poopy odor back into the room, dump the diaper in, and then close it all back up. Did I mention this is inconvenient? (In all fairness, it IS odorless as long as you don't ever have to open the lid.) We're returning ours.

New plastic handles not as effective as metal handles at keeping smells in.

I can't imagine using anything other than this pail if you are going to cloth diaper. Wet bags? Gross. This thing with the carbon filter is amazing! At least that is how I felt when a friend that recommend this lent me her (old model with metal handles) pail. When ours arrived I was very excited, but then disappointed that the new handles do not secure the lid in the same way. With a full 2 days of dirty diapers, the thing does not keep the odors in. Not sure why they redesign happened, but I would rather have the metal "hard to close" according to some reviews, but at least it creates a solid seal! Please bring back the old design!
