The coat is great quality and my 9 year old son loves the fit and style. It's lightweight, but definitely waterproof. Easy to layer warmer items under the coat if you want to use it for colder temps and great with a T-shirt for a warmer rainy day. We attended a rainy outdoor concert and stood outside for 5 hours at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado (in 42 degree temps). We layered our son in a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and this rain jacket, and he stayed warm and dry all night. The coat didn't let any rain seep through to his under layers. It's a great shade of blue and I can tell the quality will hold up nicely. It also folds up nice and small so would be an easily packable item for hiking and traveling.

Great quality jacket which I got for my son. It has the right level of water-repellence and ability to keep him warm in slightly cool temperatures during hikes. It rains half the year where we live, and yet it gets humid too. This jacket goes well with that kind of weather, and goes from indoor to outdoor easily and comfortably.

Perfect rain jacket if you live in the Pacific Northwest. We purchased a size Medium for my skinny 11 year old son- 59 lbs. It fit him perfectly with a little room to spare. It's thin with a light lining that helps the jacket move and prevents sweating. The zipper works great, no snags and I expect this high quality item will last 1-2 seasons or until he grows out of it. Truly rainproof.

These are the best rain jackets — this is the 4th I have purchased for my children. They fit true to size and the materials hold up great to general kid abuse. My son’s rain coat fit from kindergarten to mid year of 3rd grade in rainy southern weather where it is used and abused frequently!! I only replaced it (with the same coat) due to a growth spurt, not a breakdown of the coat itself.
I throw these suckers in the wash machine & dryer with no special treatment, they are wadded up in backpacks, thrown around on the playground — truly put through the wringer! The only wear-and-tear that shows up is the mesh lining can get stuck on the Velcro of the zipper area, and then becomes a bit worn/fuzzy over time. It doesn’t affect the function and is only visible on the inside of the coat. (I still always choose the mesh lining version because it’s a lot more breathable than the cheaper no-lining rain coats.)
Five out of five stars – will be buying these forever!
